Class II-III rapids
Rafting the Bighorn Sheep Canyon, you will navigate class III whitewater. This trip is exciting, but family-friendly rafting with 10 miles in length.
You will be on a guided tour, driving your own machine. This tour takes just over 2 hours and climbs up to the top of a mountain for a grand view of the Sangre De Cristo mountains.
This is a great way to spend a full day in the area if you are traveling from another town in Colorado.
Your whitewater adventure starts with a meetup at 19487 US-50, Cotopaxi, CO. Aim to get to our meeting spot by at least 8:45 for a prompt departure.
Our team will greet you, check you in, get you some gear, and ensure your group is ready to raft. We have multiple sizes of PFDs and helmets, so everyone will be outfitted in suitable gear. Once you’re checked in and ready for action, we will shuttle your group to the put-in.
Before the River
Once we reach the put-in, your guide will set aside a few minutes to go over a safety talk and explain everything you need to know before hopping in the raft. Your guide will cover paddling techniques and commands tailored to the age and ability level of the group so everyone will feel capable and ready to go.
Now, the fun begins!
Bighorn Sheep Canyon amps up the fun immediately with bouncy and exhilarating rapids at the top of the trip. You’ll ride a river full of fantastic rapids of all sizes and shapes to keep you on your toes. There are at least nine named rapids on the ½ day tour, like Spikebuck, Shark’s Tooth, and Double Dip – each one more fun than the last!
Between rapids, you’ll get to take swim breaks, hear some cheesy raft jokes, and learn about the canyon. You may even see some bighorn sheep stopping at the riverbank for a quick drink!
When we’re done, we’ll pull up to a beautiful riverside deli picnic where you can enjoy a fresh lunch, soak up some sun, and prepare for a dusty ATV adventure.
After the raft trip, you’ll drive 7 miles down the road to Play Dirty ATV Tours, where you’ll get equipped with some of the coolest off-roading vehicles out there. You will be on a guided tour, driving your own machine.
This tour takes just over 2 hours and climbs up to the top of a mountain for a grand view of the Sangre De Cristo mountains on an ATV or side-by-side vehicle. You’ll ride through several miles of twists and turns to really see what these vehicles can do! You’ll bounce and ride over a mountain into Devil’s Bowl, where you can spy pieces of Colorado mining history if you keep your eyes peeled.
While this trail is considered “smooth” (at least to ATV trail standards), there are sections of bumpy rocks to keep you on your toes. The twists and turns, thrilling terrain and stunning Colorado views will ensure everyone has the time of their life.
From paddling to driving, you’re in for a day packed with thrilling whitewater rides and dust-covered adventure.

We kick off the morning with a raft trip down Bighorn Sheep Canyon, our most popular whitewater raft trip. The class-III whitewater rapids on this trip are welcoming enough to be fun for kids as young as seven and exciting enough to get whoops and cheers out of adventurers of all ages. You will raft through 16 named rapids on this stretch of the river that range from splashy and fun to wild rides.
We partner with the best ATV rentals and tours near Colorado Springs for a 2-hour guided tour through gorgeous mountain trails. Play Dirty ATV Tours will supply high-quality machines so you can rev your engines and hit the trails in style.
We raft daily from the beginning of May through Labor Day weekend. The season can be extended if conditions permit.
We can fit 6 to 7 guests in a raft depending on the group’s size, plus your guide.
Transportation to and from the river, helmet, PFD/life jacket and splash jacket. A helmet, goggles and gloves are provided for the ATV portion.
