Let's go!
Dive into a family adventure with our Middle Clear Creek rafting trip! Tailored for first-timers and families with children as young as 7, this Clear Creek rafting experience combines gentle rapids and stunning scenery for an unforgettable day out.
As you navigate class II and III rapids, enjoy the unique combination of breathtaking scenery and glimpses into Idaho Springs’ rich mining heritage.
You will be accompanied by a professional river guide that will entertain, educate and safely guide your crew down the river.
Enjoy the easy 40-minute drive from Denver for a convenient family float. Your whitewater adventure starts with a meetup at our rafting outpost at 1181 Co Rd 308, Unit B, Dumont, CO. Our team will greet you, check you in, fit you with some gear and ensure that your group is feeling good. We have child-sized gear, so every adventurer in your group is prepared with a well-fitting helmet and Personal Flotation Device.
Once everyone is suited up for some fun, we will shuttle to the put-in!
Once we reach the put-in, your friendly and knowledgeable guide will walk you through the ins and outs of rafting. You will learn simple commands, the correct way to paddle, and the best safety practices in the raft. This is a great way for your family to learn how to work together as a team and follow simple (yet fun) instructions!
This stretch of the river is the perfect mix of calm water for wildlife-searching and enjoying views and splashy water to cool you off and keep your energy high. The fun starts off the bat with Initiation Falls, perfectly named at the beginning of the trip. All of the rapids you bounce through will be class II-III, which are considered fun and exciting without being overwhelming for children. During calmer sections, you can take in the details of the mining valley, learn about the area from your guide, and try to find some fun wildlife – if you’re lucky, you may get to see beautiful animals like beavers, bighorn sheep or moose.
Along the trip, your raft will be captured by our talented photographer for some dramatic photos of navigating the rapids. These photos will be available for purchase at the end of your trip so you can keep your Middle Clear Creek memories forever.

Middle Clear Creek Views
Middle Clear Creek is nestled in the Rocky Mountains, so you can expect beautiful grassy valleys, rocky outcroppings and pine-covered mountains in the distance.
This section of the river runs through a historic mining valley, so your guide will fill you in on some of the local history surrounding the mining evidence you can still see along the river. Idaho Springs was a rich site for gold and ore mining in the 1800s, so prospectors from all over came to these lands to benefit from the findings. Some of that mining infrastructure can still be seen from the river today. From interesting facts to stories of the area, your guide will help you see Middle Creek with new eyes.
