Action-packed day w/ lunch included
Experience some of the best spots within the 102 miles of gold medal waters with your guide.
The goal for this tour is to instruct and leave you with an improved skill set for Colorado fly fishing while getting you hooked up on some trout during the process.
Depending on the day we may be fishing dry flies, nymphs or streamers. If you do not have prior experience, we will teach you on the fly!
You will start your fly fishing adventure at our partner’s outpost, the Royal Gorge Anglers Fly Shop. There, they will check you in and ensure that you are equipped with everything you need to have a great time on the water. If you don’t have your own gear, they have top-of-the-line gear available for rent, from waders to rods to everything in between.
After you are all geared up and ready to cast out, your guides will shuttle you to some of the best walk and wade fishing grounds on the Arkansas River. The exact locations may vary based on water level and fish activity. With over 102 miles of Gold Medal Water on the Arkansas River, there are endless opportunities for finding some hop spots.
Once you reach the fishing hole, you may have a short walk to the river’s edge for some instruction. Before you cast out, your guide and instructor will walk you through best practices, gear terminology, and effective casting techniques so you enter the water feeling confident in your abilities. As you get a feel for the water, your instructor will point out what to look for, where to aim, and how to create natural movement with your flies.
Once you get the hang of the movements, you can sink into the tranquil natural surroundings with no outside distractions to pull you from the experience.
On average, you will fly fish at 2-4 different fishing holes depending on the water activity.
If you plan a full-day trip, your excursion will include a delicious, guide-made riverside picnic to enjoy halfway through the trip.
Along the way, they can also help you hook some big fish for the classic fishing trip photo!
