River and Rail Trips royal gorge route railroadIn partnership with the historic Royal Gorge Route Railroad, we are offering a combination of a scenic train ride through the Royal Gorge with a ½ day Bighorn Sheep Canyon whitewater rafting trip.

Fun for the whole family! Enjoy a 10 mile rafting trip through Bighorn Sheep Canyon with several exciting Class III+ rapids like 3 Rocks, Spikebuck and Shark’s Tooth in the morning. You may also choose our Cottonwood Family Float as part of this package. This is the perfect package for families with kids as young as 5 years old and weigh at least 35 pounds. When you return, we’ll serve you a hearty BBQ steak or chicken lunch at our private riverside picnic area. Watch for Bighorn sheep who are frequently on our Cotopaxi cliffs. You’ll have plenty of time to see the slide show of your rafting trip and eat a leisurely lunch before you head to the train depot in Canon City for the 3:30 departure of the Royal Gorge Route train for a spectacular 24 mile round trip train ride through the world famous Royal Gorge. This train ride follows the Arkansas River as it carves through a 1000 foot deep gorge.

MEETING PLACE: You will meet at Arkansas River Tours in Cotopaxi, CO at 8:45 am to sign in and be outfitted with rafting gear for your 1/2 day whitewater rafting trip. If you choose the Cottonwood Family Float trip you will meet at 9:15 am.

After lunch at our riverside base, you will drive to the Santa Fe Depot in Canon City at 401 Water St. to pick up your tickets and board the train at 3:00 for a 3:30 departure.

In partnership with Play Dirty ATV Tours, we are offering a combination of a 1/2 day Bighorn Sheep Canyon whitewater rafting trip with a fun-filled ATV tour. Enjoy a 10 mile rafting trip through Bighorn Sheep Canyon with several exciting Class III+ rapids like 3 Rocks, Spikebuck, and Shark’s Tooth in the morning. When you return, we’ll serve you a hearty BBQ steak, chicken, or vegetarian lunch at our private riverside picnic area. Watch for Bighorn sheep who are frequently on our Cotopaxi cliffs. You’ll have plenty of time to see the slide show of your rafting trip and eat a leisurely lunch before you hop on the transport can to head to the ATV outfitter up the road from us for the 3:30pm departure. Mountain trail riding is exciting and fun! Play Dirty is a private tour guide service in the Texas Creek Trail System. Texas Creek is considered by “those who know” to be the All Terrain Vehicle Capital of Colorado. Play Dirty ATV Tours start out at 6400 ft. elevation in the beautiful Arkansas River valley. They provide tours that are great for all ages. Great for beginners and those that have never ridden in the mountains before as well as our advanced thrill-seekers. They demonstrate how to safely operate each machine you will ride, and how to trail ride safely.

MEETING PLACE:
This is offered for any day of the week. You will meet at the rafting location at 8:45am on the day of your choosing, will raft on Bighorn Sheep Canyon until lunch which will end around 1:30pm. The ATV tour will then begin at 3pm.

  • The Bighorn Sheep Canyon whitewater trip package meets in Canon City or Cotopaxi at 8:45 am depending where you are coming from on the morning of your trip. Your reservation confirmation will have the location you have chosen when you reserved your trip.

Enjoy a 10 mile rafting trip through Bighorn Sheep Canyon with several exciting Class III+ rapids like 3 Rocks, Spikebuck, and Shark’s Tooth in the morning. The Lost Canyon Zipline Tour consists of 7 cables — 6 exciting, high-flying cable rides between 200-700 feet in length and a practice (Bunny Zip) cable that is 80 feet long. The Bunny Zip is only 5 feet off the ground, allowing you to have your feet on the ground anytime you assume a standing position. The zipline tour cables, however, are stretched over a rocky canyon some 150-200 feet deep.

Captain Zipline’s Canyon Aerial Course is built on 60-foot telephone poles to which wooden platforms at varying heights have been attached, and these in turn are connected to all kinds of elements. This linked combination of challenge elements is tucked in the belly of the Lost Canyon and sits underneath some of the Park’s zipline cables. There are 9 different courses within the complex, all coded similar to difficulty levels used by ski resorts.
