What’s the best time of year to raft near Colorado Springs?
Rafting season runs from early May through late August. June and early July offer the biggest, splashiest water; late July and August bring lower, warmer flows that are great for families and first-timers.

For families with young children (ages 4+), our Cottonwood Canyon Float is a calm, scenic trip. For older kids ready for some splash, Bighorn Sheep Canyon is our most popular family adventure.

Can I raft the Royal Gorge as a beginner?
Yes, but with a guide. The Royal Gorge includes Class III–IV rapids and is best for guests age 14+ in good physical condition. No prior rafting experience required; our guides handle the technical work.

What should I bring for a rafting trip?
We provide all the rafting gear, paddle, helmet, life jacket, and (early/late season) wetsuit. You’ll want quick-dry clothing, water shoes or sandals with straps, sunscreen, sunglasses with a retainer strap, and a full change of clothes for after the trip.

Absolutely. Half-day rafting trips wrap up by early afternoon, leaving plenty of time to head back to Colorado Springs for dinner downtown or a sunset stop at Garden of the Gods.
