While ART takes every precaution available to keep you safe, our adventures take us into the unpredictable wild. ART and our guides are always prepared and impeccably trained. We have an excellent safety record and we intend to keep it that way.
ART guides receive the most extensive training available, exceeding all state requirements by as many hours and days needed to become a competent and skilled guide. Our guides consider whitewater rafting to be their profession, not just a summer job. These fun-loving professionals are always willing to share their love for rivers and knowledge of the river environment. Most of our guides are Swiftwater Rescue Certified EMTs or Wilderness First Responders and all guides are First Aid and CPR certified. Their average experience is more than 5 years but range from 1st year to 38 years!
We do our best to minimize risks associated with adventure travel, but incidents and injuries can happen. All of our guides are at a minimum trained in wilderness first aid and CPR while some have advance training including up to EMT certifications. The patient will be provided the highest care possible to address the situation and if needed an evacuation will be preformed to obtain higher care. We have communication and evacuation plans in place to address any situations that could arise. ART has an excellent safety record and we intend to keep it that way.
The odds of falling in are determined mainly by how high the river is, making it almost impossible to estimate. While staying dry is usually the aim, falling in is a possibility.
Since our inception in 1973, Arkansas River Tours has been committed to providing the safest, highest-quality river trips available.
