A 2 Day Colorado white water rafting adventure combines Brown’s Canyon rafting and Royal Gorge rafting with camping at our riverside location in Cotopaxi. Each section provides a unique Arkansas river experience of varying scenery and rapids. The easy accessibility we have to these canyons from our location allows us to customize our overnight Arkansas River rafting trips to your group’s needs. We have a spectacular setting at our camping area below the Cotopaxi Cliffs for the exclusive use of our guests. We commonly view bighorn sheep coming down to the water to drink. We provide scrumptious meals and do all the cooking while you enjoy fishing, horseshoes or relaxing around the fire with river tales. Camping equipment rentals are available. Enjoy lots of views, high adventure, quality time with your group, and much needed time in the outdoors.
Day 1 - Combine Colorado whitewater rafting with spectacular views of the Sawatch Range containing some of Colorado’s highest peaks. We raft through fun Class III rapids such as Pinball, Zoom Flume, the Staircase and the infamous Seidel’s Suckhole. This scenic canyon parallels the Brown’s Canyon Wilderness Study Area and is now established as a National Monument. After your day of rafting you will have time to relax or play games around camp while you guides prepare your meal.
Day 2 – After another hearty meal you are off for the Royal Gorge! This trip is the ultimate full day rafting adventure in Colorado. Huge waves, steep technical drops, and almost continuous whitewater rapids in a narrow canyon await you with rapids like Sledgehammer, Wallslammer, the Narrows, Boateater and the infamous Sunshine Falls. The Royal Gorge may demand so much attention you don’t even notice the world famous Royal Gorge Bridge 1053′ above the river. This exhilarating trip is recommended for rafters or adventurers in good physical shape who are ready for aggressive paddling. If you are seeking lots of excitement, this trip is for you and your group.

“ Last week my family concluded a recent rafting trip with Arkansas River Tours (ART). This was our first multi-day rafting experience that far exceeded our expectations. We camped directly next to the river for a couple of nights. The sound of the river, literally steps from our tents, offered continuous white-noise for sleeping. Wonderful location within the canyon walls of Cotopaxi. The other side of the rivers offers a dormant railroad, where the occasional large-horn sheep walk by. We actually saw 6 all at the same time during our brief stay. The team-members of ART were all great towards us. Both Chris and Sarah who helped us with check-in and other details were very friendly and helpful. After check-in, we were able to meet our rafting guide named Kyle that we had for 3 days. Little did we realize how fortunate we were to have Kyle as our guide. He worked out great for our family. He’s very knowledgeable of all the rapids in the waters and history of surroundings. He’ll make your rafting-trip enjoyable and establish wonderful experiences for a lifetime. He’ll be the person putting on coffee at 7am, setting gear and loading boats to even cooking. That’s right, doing most of the cooking for breakfast/dinners. Kyle’s dedication towards his craft come through how he conducts himself both on and off the water. You can tell he thoroughly enjoys what he does. Special shout-out assists go to Mariah/Kasin on the steaks and Marshall on the chicken fajitas we had for dinners. All great people, helping create great experiences! I can’t forget Kasin. On our last day we had the opportunity to shoot the Royal Gorge, as it was closed commercially for the past 5 weeks due to high water volumes over the 3200 cfps cut-off limit! We got to run it at just under the 3000 mark. Kasin was a real dynamo with a paddle and a tremendous asset to our boat for the extra power needed. (great arm throwing a football too!). Between Kyle and Kasin we successfully navigated the Gorge and stayed out of the “keepers”. Everyone remained in the boat, although totally soaked. If anyone reading this is looking for boundless experiences and a great operator, you won’t be disappointed choosing ART. Be sure to ask for Kyle as your guide!”

“ We did the overnight trip with Brown's Canyon on Saturday and Royal Gorge on Sunday and we had the best time. Kyle W was our guide and he was awesome. I loved doing the overnight, the campsite is in Cotopaxi right along the river and its truly beautiful and peaceful. Arkansas River Tours has a shower onsite and you can rent tents, sleeping bags, etc. Kyle cooked us some delish steaks, potatoes, corn, brownies, etc. and then we had a nice campfire. In the morning we had breakfast tacos -- the food was much better than I was expecting. Upon arrival they outfit you with a helmet, life jacket, and wetsuit and/or water shoes if either are needed. I wore a wetsuit because I would rather be too warm than too cold and I highly recommend doing the same. Bring lots of sunscreen, sunglasses, and some water and you will have a blast!
