Itinerary

Your multi-day whitewater adventure starts with a meetup at our rafting outpost at 19487 US 50, Cotopaxi, CO. Our outpost is about 35 minutes from Cañon City and 1.5 hours from Colorado Springs. Aim to get to our meeting spot by at least 8:15 am.

Our team will have already organized the gear and planned the meals for this trip. The campsite is at our base in cotopaxi, which meands you have access to basic amenities, we have confirmed camp space and you won’t have to break down camp each day. We will collect and organize the additional gear you bring for the trip and ensure that everyone has what they need for the entirety of the trip. Once our guest attendants check you in, it’s time to suit up in our provided helmets and life jackets and shuttle to the put-in. You’ll have enough time to enjoy the views, sing songs and build excitement for your days on the river.

Once you arrive at the put-in, your adventure begins! The first leg of the 2-day trip is the wildly fun Browns Canyon, which has a mix of fun and splashy class II rapids like Pinball, Zoom Flume, and the Staircase to get your feet wet. Then, you will try your paddle at some with some bigger class III-IV rapids, like the notorious Seidel’s Suckhole. It’s the perfect appetizer for Royal Gorge’s main course!

If you tackle the 3-day trip, you get a fun float day in Bighorn Sheep Canyon before you embark on the rapids-filled Browns and Royal Gorge Sections! We love the 3-day trip because Bighorn Sheep Canyon is the perfect transition into your raft adventure. The calmer, splashy water allows you to take your focus off the river and take in the views and warm-up for the whitewater ahead.

The last day of rafting takes you on the most popular whitewater trip we offer: Royal Gorge. You’ll have a few minutes on the water to warm up before the real fun begins – and doesn’t stop until the take-out! You’ll fly over rowdy and wildly fun rapids like Sledgehammer, Wallslammer, Boateater, Narrows, and Sunshine Falls.

Each night you spend on the river, you’ll get to call our Cotopaxi riverside campsite a home away from home. This spacious and scenic campsite keeps you close to the water and close to the fun, with small swimming and fishing areas, lawn games, perfect trees for hammocking, and campfires to cozy up next to. While you hang out, our guides will cook up some delicious, hearty meals with fresh ingredients from our local butcher to keep your energy up for the next stretch of rafting.

Along the trip, your raft will be captured by our talented photographer for some dramatic photos of navigating rapids. These photos will be available for purchase at the end of your trip so you can keep your Royal Gorge memories forever.

About Arkansas River Multi-Day Raft Trips

Multi-Day Rafting
Sometimes, one day of fun just isn’t enough! A multi-day raft trip is the perfect option if you’re ready to escape to Colorado nature for an adventure-filled vacation. Our overnight whitewater trips are the easiest way to escape onto the river because we handle all logistics, from travel to gear to campsite fun.

The Arkansas River has some of the best whitewater you can find in the West, with beautiful Rocky Mountain views, giant granite canyons and miles and miles of a powerful river. Browns Canyon has high-altitude beauty with pines, massive boulders and rock gardens, while Royal Gorge is nestled between tall sheer cliffs that hold America’s highest suspension bridge.

If you opt for a three-day adventure, you’ll also get to see the stunning views of Bighorn Sheep Canyon. This calmer, splashy float is a perfect way to unwind and take in the scenery before you hop on sections of the river that command your attention. This area is known for bighorn sheep sightings (hence the name), so keep your eyes out for our favorite Rocky Mountain friends.

Your group will spend about 4-5 hours each day on the river, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy some downtime at the campsite playing games, going for small hikes, eating meals and chatting around the fire.
